Cheshire Horse Photoshoot – Elijah and Claire

ELIJAH, was the horse that started it all.

At 17 years old, this magnificent 17hh Dutch Warmblood Gelding is quite simply one of those once-in-a-lifetime horses. Gentle with children, calm with nervous riders, with a quiet presence for those who need it most, and yet utterly commanding and very handsome!

He was the first horse Claire ever bred, and from the very beginning, she knew he was something special. As a stallion, Elijah went on to sire several incredible progeny, of which many are owned by Claire today. All are very much part of the family.

Horses are more than just animals. They are part of our family.

The day of the shoot was just fantastic. Strong winds and heavy showers had been forecast in the afternoon, so we opted for the morning and with the addition of a barn to use, if the weather had come in early. However, on the actual day, the sun shone and Claire and I walked around the livery fields and scouted additional locations. What followed was a fabulous session, full of fun and laughs – while capturing their amazing, special relationship.

A huge thank you to Claire’s mum and aunt, who were brilliant on the day and helped keep Elijah’s attention, by tapping sticks and throwing up grass in the air. As well as for the lovely cup of tea at the end!

After the session, a few days later, Claire viewed her beautiful portraits online and chose the beautiful walnut Treasure Box – containing fifteen very special fine art mounted prints of her and Elijah, as her keepsake. Something that will always remind her of this very special horse.

We’ll start with a conversation about your ideas. What you’d love to wear, where your horse feels happiest, where you hang out and the kind of photographs you’d love to create.

Whether that’s a local hack, a woodland path or quiet moments at the stable, I’ll guide you every step of the way to make sure everything feels completely natural and personal to you both.

Some clients choose to have their hair and makeup done beforehand, others keep it completely natural – it’s entirely your choice. The focus is always on capturing you, authentically, at a location that holds special meaning.
