Emma Campbell Horse Portrait Photographer

When I first set out to take my photography seriously, mentoring changed everything for me.

It gave me clarity, direction, and the confidence to move forward – helping me refine my craft, develop my style, and ultimately build the horse portrait business I have today.

Now, as a Master Craftsman photographer, judge, and mentor, it’s something I feel incredibly passionate about passing on.

I’ve judge for the Guild of Photographers, The British Photography Awards and the UK Print Photography Awards. This means I regularly review work at a high level – understanding not just what makes a beautiful image, but what makes a strong one.

I also have a ILM, Mentoring Qualification with the British School of Coaching.

What You’ll Gain From Your Mentoring Session

Every session is completely tailored to you – your level, your goals, and where you feel stuck.

Together, we can work on:

Perhaps you’re:

  • Developing your unique style
  • Insight from a judge’s perspective on what makes a strong, competition-ready image
  • Understanding light, composition, and storytelling
  • Building confidence in your shooting approach
  • Improving your editing and Photoshop workflow
  • Reviewing your portfolio with postive constructive feedback to get your creativity flowing
  • Guidance on competitions, goal setting, and next steps.

This isn’t a generic training session. It’s focused, supportive, and designed to help you move forward with clarity.

And many photographers leave these sessions feeling clearer, more confident, and excited to pick up their camera.

FAQ’s

Not at all – sessions are tailored to your level, whether you’re just starting out or refining your style.

No. It’s amazing how much out of your current setup. We’ll focus on understanding light, composition, and approach – rather than relying on expensive gear.

Absolutely. In fact, I encourage it. Looking at your work together is one of the most valuable parts of mentoring, as it helps you understand what’s working well and where you can refine things.

Yes – and this is often one of the biggest breakthroughs. Rather than copying others, I’ll help you understand what draws you to certain images so you can develop a style that feels natural and consistent to you.

Not at all. Most people feel this way before starting mentoring. My approach is always supportive and encouraging.

Yes, we can absolutely focus on editing if that’s something you’d like help with. Just let me know beforehand so I can tailor the session to suit you.

You’ll leave with clear, practical steps you can take straight away – so you’re not left wondering what to do next.

You don’t need to overthink it. If you can, have a few images ready that you’d like feedback on, and a rough idea of what you’d like help with – but we’ll guide the rest together.

Testimonials

CALLIE SODEN

PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR
PET PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR

Emma has been absolutely instrumental in my journey of becoming a successful photographer.

I felt like a nervous mess the first time we talked, but I had no reason to feel that way!

Her always positive attitude and encouraging words have been helpful beyond measure. I now look forward to our chats every month and have tried to implement all of her suggestions every time I shoot, and edit a photo.

The improvement I’ve seen in the year since she started mentoring me is just insane!

Thank you Emma, I couldn’t have done it without you!  There is a little nugget of wisdom that she has given me in all of my photos now!

HORSE PHOTOGRAPHER

Recommended to anyone wanting to improve!

I had a feedback session with Emma and I would recommend to anyone considering it and wanting to improve. I feel even more excited and energised to go out and take lots of horse (and dog but mainly horse) pictures!

It’s funny how obvious little mistakes are when they are pointed out, I get so caught up in the picture that I forget to check for the basics.

If you’d like to feel this same clarity and confidence in your work, you can book your session here.
