Worried About How You’ll Look in Your Horse Photos?

This article looks at why now is a brilliant time to reserve your horse photoshoot experience and how it can make you look and feel amazing.

Let me show you how amazing you are!

If you’ve ever thought about booking a photoshoot with your horse, but hesitated because of how you might look in the photographs.

In fact, it’s a common thought I hear.

Many of the women I photograph tell me they feel a little nervous before their photoshoot session. Despite them feeling it was a ‘right time’ to capture their horse, they feel slightly uncomfortable themselves.

But the reality is so different, especially in the hands of an experienced photographer. Emma’s equine portrait session is a wellness, positive and empowering experience! It might not seem it at first, but after every session, I love my ladies buzzing and feel amazing!

Most people feel unsure before a photoshoot

It’s completely natural to feel a little nervous about being in front of the camera. Especially when you spend most of your time at the yard in jeans, wellies, and your hair tied back! But here’s what I’ve seen time and time again:

  • When you’re gently guided, in a calm and familiar environment, something shifts
  • You relax
  • You focus on your horse.
  • And suddenly, it doesn’t feel like being photographed at all.

You don’t need to know how to pose

One of the biggest worries people have is: ‘I won’t know what to do.‘ And that’s absolutely fine – because you don’t need to! I won’t ask you to stand in awkward positions or do anything that doesn’t feel natural.

Instead, I’ll guide you gently, allowing the connection you already have with your horse to come through.
Often, the most ‘complicated’ thing I might ask you to do is simply walk with your horse, or spend a quiet moment together. That’s where the magic happens.

Using light to help you look your best

A huge part of my job is understanding how to use light in a way that flatters.

Positioning you so that:

  • your features are softly lit
  • there are no harsh shadows
  • everything feels natural and gentle

This isn’t about heavy editing or changing how you look.

It’s about using professional skill and experience to help you look like the very best version of yourself.

It’s your day, celebrating your story.
Now let me show you how amazing you are x

It’s not just about the photographs

Something else I hear often – and it means a lot to me, is how much people enjoy the experience itself.

Time set aside.
No rushing.
Just being present with your horse.
And if the family are present too, it’s about sharing a common experience that you all love, together.

For many, that in itself is just as important as the portraits they take home.

And when you see your portraits…

They can provide daily reminders who you are and what you have achieved.

And when you see your portraits…

This is the part I love most.

Because so often, clients say something like:

‘I can’t believe that’s me.

Not because they look different – but because they see themselves in a new way.

Looking amazing. Connected. Natural.

Just as their horse sees them every day.

You don’t need to wait

It’s easy to think: ‘I’ll do it when things settle down’
‘I’ll do it when I feel more confident’

But the moments you have with your horse now – they’re already worth capturing.
