An Equine Portrait Session is not a quick photoshoot squeezed into the diary. It is an experience carefully created around you, your horse, your story, and the memories you want to preserve.

Before I ever pick up my camera, I want to understand why this matters to you.
Every horse has a story. Every owner has a reason for wanting to capture this moment. Sometimes it is a milestone birthday. Sometimes it is a horse of a lifetime. Sometimes it is a young rider’s journey, an older horse who has given so much, or simply the feeling that now is the right time.
I want to know what your horse means to you andwhat you would love to remember.
And just as importantly, I want to know how you would love your portraits to make you feel when you see them in your home every day.
That is where the experience begins.
When you reserve an Equine Portrait Session with me, I dedicate the day to you.

My horse photoshoots are never about standing awkwardly in front of a camera. They are about helping you feel relaxed, comfortable and yourself, while capturing the connection, character and relationship you share with your horse in a way that feels true to you.
You Are Guided Before Your Session
So many people worry that they will not know what to wear, where to stand, what to do with their hands, or whether their horse will behave.
Please don’t worry – that is exactly what I am here for.
Before your photoshoot, I will guide you through the whole process. From planning your location and thinking about the best light, to helping you choose outfits that feel like you and photograph beautifully, everything is designed to help you feel prepared and confident.
This is not about turning up and hoping for the best.
It is about creating a relaxed, carefully planned experience where you feel looked after from the very beginning.
Your Day Is Dedicated to You
When you reserve an Equine Portrait Session with me, I dedicate the day to you.
That means I am not rushing from one client to another or squeezing your session into a fixed time slot. Instead, we can work around you, your horse, the weather, and the best light of the day.
Beautiful light makes such a difference to the finished portraits. Sometimes that means photographing earlier in the morning, sometimes later in the day, and sometimes waiting for the right moment when the light softens and everything comes together.
Horses are not machines, and people are not either.
Some horses need time to settle. Some owners feel nervous at first. Some sessions need a quieter pace. That is all absolutely fine.
The whole experience is created around giving you and your horse the time, care and attention you both deserve.
The Photoshoot Is Part of the Experience
The photoshoot itself is not just a means to an end.
It is a chance to pause and enjoy your horse.
A chance to step away from work, responsibilities, stress, and all the other things that fill everyday life.
For that short time, the focus is on you and your horse.
You might be someone who always puts other people first. You might spend your life looking after everyone else. You might work long hours, run a home, care for family, or feel as though there is never much time left for you.
This is your time and your hour with your horse.
A chance to celebrate what they mean to you and everything you have shared together.
I aim to make the experience feel calm, enjoyable and really special. I will guide you throughout, so you are never left wondering what to do. You do not need to feel confident in front of the camera, and your horse does not need to behave perfectly.
The best portraits come from trust, patience and understanding.
Experience Matters
I have worked with horses for over 35 years, and that experience matters. As well as being a Fell pony owner myself, I have a background in equine science and a lifelong understanding of the connection we build with our horses.
I am also a Master Craftsman with The Guild of Photographers, an award-winning equine portrait photographer, a judge and panel member, and my work has been recognised nationally and internationally.
But more than anything, I care deeply about creating portraits that mean something.
The camera, the equipment and the technical skill all matter, of course. I use professional equipment and carefully chosen products, so your final artwork is created to the highest standard and made to last.
But the real difference is in the whole experience – the planning, the care, the understanding, the light, the guidance, the editing, and the finished artwork created for your home.
After Your Session
After your photoshoot, your portraits are carefully edited by me.
This is where I truly understand how many of my clients want to feel when they see their finished images. You still want to look like yourself, but at your very best — relaxed, natural, flattering and beautifully photographed.
I do not rely on AI to create that. I use my professional eye, experience and careful editing to create a polished, magazine-ready finish, while still keeping the portraits true to you.
Your finished images will then be presented during your private viewing and design consultation, where you will see them for the first time.
There is no pressure and no hard sell. My role is to guide you, show you what is possible, and help you choose what feels right for you, your home and your budget.
If you would love wall art, I can help you imagine how your favourite portraits could look in your home. Many clients send me photographs of their room walls beforehand, so I can create artwork previews and help them choose the right size and style.
You may want one beautiful statement piece. You may prefer a small collection of fine art prints. You may want something to share with family. Every client is different, and the design consultation is there to help you make the best choice for you.
More Than Photographs
Your portraits are not just images.
They are reminders.
Of your horse, your connection and of this chapter in your life. Of everything you have shared together and how it all felt.
When they are displayed in your home, they become part of your everyday life. Something you see as you walk past. Something that makes you smile. Something that brings back a memory, a moment, a feeling.

Emma Campbell is a professional horse portrait photographer and Master Craftsman (MCrGPP) with over 30 years’ experience capturing horses and their owners.
An award-winning photographer, Emma won Overall Winner, Image of the Year (Judges’ Choice) and Equine Image of the Year with The Guild of Photographers in 2020.
She holds a BSc (Hons) in Equine Science and Business and is recognised as one of the first photographers to achieve Master Craftsman status in equine photography with The Guild.
