Horse and dog owner – let’s create one special portrait session

Horses and Dogs are Family! A Special Photoshoot Session

This article is about creating one special portrait session for horse and dog owners who would love to celebrate both animals together through natural, meaningful portraits and finished artwork for their home.

For many of us, horses and dogs are not separate parts of our lives.

If you’re anything like me, your horse is one of your best friends. The one you look after, worry about, and plan your day around. The one you share adventures with, the one who may sometimes push you out of your comfort zone, and the one you enjoy quieter moments.

But your dog may be part of that same world too!

They come with you to the yard, follow your routine, wait quietly while you muck out or groom, and are there through so many of the normal movements that make up life with horses.

Each bring something different to your life.

Both have their own personalities and their own connection with you, but together they tell a fuller story of this chapter in your life.

So when it comes to creating portraits, why separate them?

The horses and dogs in our lives are more than just animals. They are part of our family.

Horse portraits, dog portraits – or both

For many years, my work has centred around horses and the incredible relationships we share with them.

But more and more, I have been asked whether dogs can be included too. And of course, the answer is yes!

After all, for many horse owners, their beloved dog is never far away, and very much part of their story.

Why include them together?

A portrait session is not just about creating beautiful photographs.

It is about capturing this chapter in your life.

Your horse, dog and relationship with them both.
The routines you share and the moments you never want to forget.

Including your horse and dog in the same photoshoot helps tell a fuller story. It creates portraits that feel personal, natural and true to your life as it really is.

You do not need to book two separate sessions if what you really want is to celebrate them together.

Sometimes the most meaningful portraits are the ones that bring everything together in one image.

More than just photographs

A portrait session is an opportunity to step away from the rush of everyday life and spend time with the animals and people who mean the most to you.

Life moves quickly. We keep working, caring, organising, rushing from one thing to the next, and it can be easy to forget to stop and recognise what is right in front of us.

Allowing yourself that time to stop, access just what is so important and special to you. What makes you a smile everyday – this we want to capture! Bottling up that feeling in beautifully curated artwork for your home.

The real value is in how it makes you feel, again and again, every time you see it.

To create artwork that has the lasting effect of that feeling. A beautifully created portrait on your wall – which you would live with every day. Becoming part of your home, part of your story, and part of the quiet rhythm of your everyday life.

It is there in the background of ordinary mornings, busy days, family conversations and peaceful evenings. It can make you smile as you walk past. It can remind you of what matters. It can help you appreciate not only the animals in the portrait, but the person you are with them and the bond you share.

That is why finished artwork is worth so much more than the moment it is purchased.

The value is not only in the print, the frame, or the craftsmanship – although those things are important. The real value is in how it makes you feel, again and again, every time you see it.
