YOUR

QUESTIONS

The Build-up

What if the weather is terrible?

A few days before your shoot, I’ll be checking several weather apps to see what’s going to be happening on your Portrait Session day. If the weather is dry and not windy, we’ll go for it. If there are showers forecast, we could still go ahead, if you have a barn we can retreat to while it rains.

What if I need to cancel or postpone my Portrait Session?

Please note, that if you wish to cancel or move my portrait session, to give Emma at least 14 days notice – prior to your session date. (Unless the circumstances are totally unavoidable, such as weather or a poorly animal.)

Do you offer a style guide?

Yes. On signing up to your Horse Portrait Session, you will receive a style guide to help you make your clothing choices for the day. You’ll also receive a number of additional emails full of helpful tips and information to ensure you feel fully prepared and get the most out of your experience.

Your Portrait Session

Can I be excluded on the photographs?

Yes, it’s entirely up to you. However, I do encourage my clients to have one or two images with their horse – if they can.

My thoughts on this, is that you deserve to be in the frame too. These aren’t just portraits of your horse – they’re about celebrating you both, your connection, and the joy they bring to your life. Let me show you what a professional photographer can create for you – beautiful portraits that honour your relationship and give you wall art you’ll love to display in your home.

Why do you ask me to bring along a friend to help?

Having an extra pair of hands on location makes such a difference to your session! Not only is it lovely to have a friend or family member there to share the experience with you, but they’re also invaluable for helping get your horse’s attention – whether that’s rustling a bag, grabbing some grass, or simply being there to calm any nerves. Their presence really does help create better photographs and a more relaxed, enjoyable experience for everyone.

Can I include members of the family in the horse photoshoot?

Absolutely, but please let me know prior to the shoot, who will be attending.

Are you insured?

Yes, I carry Public Liability and Personal Accident Insurance.

What if my horse doesn’t stand still?

On every horse photoshoot the horse comes first. Please don’t worry if you feel your horse won’t stand still. We make the photoshoot very relaxed and we always work around them.

What if I’m nervous?

It’s entirely normal to feel this, but please be reassured we’ll have the most wonderful time and hopefully within a few minutes of meeting me, you’ll feel more relaxed. If you would like to chat to me on the phone or via Zoom prior to us meeting up, I can set that up too.

Why do I have to choose a location known to me and my horse?

The aim of the horse photoshoot session is to capture your horse’s true personailty. To do this, I need them to be as relaxed as possible. Taking them somewhere new, may unsettle them.

I don’t know if my location is any good?

When I arrive, we’ll take a walk and have a look at the location you’ve chosen. I’ll then select some lovely areas. It may be a gorgeous tree which will make a fabulous backdrop, or a brick wall! It’s amazing what I can find to use.

I’ve chosen a location, but it’s on private land we don’t own?

We’ll need permission from any land owner to take the photographs.

So that may mean contacting a few weeks in advance, the National Trust, National Trust for Scotland, English Heritage, a Farmer or the local council and asking if the location you wish for, is available for us to use.

If the photoshoot is on a private yard, again we’ll need permission in advance from the owner for us to photograph there.

Viewing Your Photographs

How long will I have to wait to view the photographs from my Portrait Session?

We’ll get back together within a week for you to view your photographs and select your wall art.

How will I view my photographs and select my wall art?

We’ll come back together within a week and you’ll view your portrait photographs online. I’ll then guide you through selecting your favourite images and together we’ll create your wall art.

Can I view my photographs on my own, prior to a consultation?

Yes you can, but to do this, I require a viewing fee of £595, payable before you receive access to your gallery. This fee will be refunded on a collection purchase.

Do you keep the digital files?

I do, but I can only guarantee them for one year, after that time, they are archived.

Purchasing Your Wall Art

What can I purchase?

As part of your Portrait Session we’ll have a look at a number of products, for you to see, touch and feel. From metal prints, frames, albums to my best-seller the Treasure Box! Then when you view your images for the first time, you’ll have an idea of what will look best in your home.

How much do the frames and canvases cost?

My products start from £495, with clients typically spending between £595 and £2,500.
