Digital Camera Magazine - Equine Photography

Delighted to be one of the contributors in this month’s edition of Digital Camera Magazine (Digital Camera World) and to fly the flag for Equine Photography!

Last month, editor Niall Hampton travelled up from Bath to the Caldbeck fells in Cumbria, for our portrait session. The aim of the morning was for Niall to watch how I worked, as an equine portrait photographer, capture a real life session and to pick my brains on how I produced the photographs that I do.

My amazing model was Connie and her beautiful Connemara pony Flip.

LOCATION

The area I chose was very close to where Connie and Flip live. And that was what made it so special. I always travel to my clients locations. Where they hang out with their horse. That way both are relaxed and I can get the best photographs, with the aim of capturing their unique relationship.

Equine Portrait Session

I have to admit, I did feel a little strange, having someone watch what I do. And also to try and communicate why I was working in a certain way! But I think the end result is great and I hope it encourages more people to have a go, capturing horses.

Do check out the magazine, which is full of handy hints and practical guides – 8 pages dedicated to Equine Photography! On sale at WHSmiths, or via : https://subscribe.digitalcameraworld.com/…/digital…
