Amy & Nellie’s Equine Portrait Session

Amy and Nellie - Cumbrian Equine photoshoot

It was an absolute delight to meet Amy and her beautiful mare Nellie, a few weeks ago for their Equine Portrait Session.

It was my first horse photo session of the season and what a lovely pair and a fantastic venue to kick off with.

Set in the beautiful grounds of Dalemain House, close to Lake Ullswater, in the Lake District, the pair absolutely shone. The weather was mild and the rain which had threatened, abated.

Horse Photoshoot Experience

Nellie is a 16.2hh bay french warmblood mare and was just a poppet on the photo shoot session.  Amy had mentioned that she could be easily distracted, and we had walkers, the odd quad bike and cars appear at times throughout our photo shoot, but that really helped in our favor, as Nellie would stand alert and look very graceful. I was grateful for the external influencers!
A horse photoshoot is a fabulous opportunity to capture the connection between owner and their horse, and these two, who enjoy eventing and showjumping, have such an incredible bond.

Dalemain House

Our venue, (which holds the world famous Marmalade Festival), looked very splendid as our backdrop. The spring light was delicate and the bobbing daffodils just added that extra touch.
Many thanks to Mrs Hasell-McCosh for her kind permission to allow us to photograph at Dalemain.

The historic gardens, shop and tearoom are open to the public Sunday to Friday, 10.30am to 4pm. The Mansion is open for guided tours, Sunday to Friday.
